Nobody has posted a character for Icewind Dale: Rime of the Frostmaiden yet, so there is nothing to start a scene with. Here is what this table uses. Post one character per thread in this section, and a game master will say when you are in.

What makes a character worth playing here
Game masters notice good writing and reward it, in the fiction and at the table. That is a person's judgement, not a score this forum keeps.
Ask anything in the out-of-character section — a half-made character with a question attached is more useful than a finished one nobody can run.
What this table has decided
- Player's Handbook: 2024 edition. Anything from it is fair game unless a game master says otherwise in the out-of-character section.
- Starting level: 4. Take the hit points, proficiency bonus, subclass and features your class has at that level.
- Ability scores: roll 4d6 and drop the lowest die, six times, in the open.
- Feats: your background grants an origin feat, as the 2024 book does for everybody; this table gives you one extra feat, on top of anything above; and the fourth-level ability score improvement may be taken as a feat instead, which is a choice and not a third feat.
What to put in your thread
- Name, species, class and subclass, background, level 4.
- Ability scores, and how you got them — post the individual dice, not just the totals.
- Hit points, armour class, proficiency bonus, saving throws and skills.
- Every feat you have taken, and which of the sources above it came from.
- Equipment, and anything you spent starting money on.
- Who they are, and what they want. A few paragraphs, not a few words. This is the part that matters: the numbers decide what happens when dice are rolled, and this decides everything else.
What makes a character worth playing here
- Leave something unfinished. A debt, a rumour, somebody looking for them, a question they have not answered. Give a game master a handle they can pull on and your character gets scenes of their own; arrive complete and resolved and there is nothing for the game to catch on.
- Write them so somebody can play opposite them. A reason to talk, a reason to argue, a reason to travel with people. A character who needs nobody is a character nobody can write with.
- Be prepared to stay in their voice. Scenes here are written a post at a time over days. The character you will enjoy is the one you still want to speak as in a fortnight.
- Joke characters are not wanted. Not because the table is humourless — the funniest moments in a game like this come from people playing someone they take seriously — but because a character built for one gag has nowhere to go afterwards, and everybody else has to write around it for months.
